Frequently asked questions
- Which citation styles does it support?
- Four of the most widely used: APA 7th edition, MLA 9th edition, Chicago (notes and bibliography), and Harvard. Each one is generated from the same details you enter, so you can compare them side by side and copy whichever your course requires.
- Does it create in-text citations too?
- Yes. Alongside the full reference-list entry, each style shows its in-text or parenthetical form, such as (Smith, 2024) for APA or (Smith) for MLA. Both have their own copy button so you can drop them straight into your writing.
- What if I do not have every detail of a source?
- Enter what you have and the citation still forms. Citation styles are designed to handle missing pieces, for example a missing date shows as "n.d." in APA. The more accurate the details you provide, the more complete the reference, so it is worth filling in the year, author and title where you can.
- Is anything I type sent to a server?
- No. Everything runs inside your browser, so the work you do here stays on your own device and nothing is uploaded. There is no sign-up and no limit on how many times you use it, and once the page has loaded it keeps working with no connection.
